Welcome to Read to Ramble Book Blog!

Hi, my name is Ellie and this is the Read to Ramble Blog.

I am an avid reader and I love fantasy, historical fiction, mysteries, children’s and middle grade stories, but I will read just about anything if it sounds like my cup of tea.

I hope you will enjoy your time here and share your passions and bookish love with me.

  • It has been a long time coming, but I finally found the time to read and review The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by @gabriellezevin, for the blog tour organised by @algonquinbooks.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can find the full review for this book on my blog (link in my bio), but here are my main thoughts!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Overall, I enjoyed this book and was surprised by it. I was kind of hoping that it would be a cute easy read, and the movie trailer definitely gave off those vibes. It wasn't my usual kind of book to pick up, but I'm glad I gave it a chance because it didn't disappoint.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was a really sweet, beautifully-written heartwarming story with a touch of bitterness at the end that makes you appreciate the whole story, because I won’t hide it from you, the ending is sad, but also uplifting. It definitely deserved the tears I shed about it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I gave The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin 4 stars, and I’m thrilled to have been given the chance to read it for the Algonquin Books blog tour! I’m now going to be picking up her next book that is very much hyped at the moment: Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. I need more beautiful writing from this author.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you love light, feel-good, heartwarming stories, books about books and the power of words and love, you love beautiful writing that sweeps you up and makes you cry (but in a happy/sad way!), this is 100% the book for you. I highly recommend it and hope you love it!

  • Do you love YA fantasy series? Interesting and unique magic systems and amazingly flawed and determined characters? So do I, and I'm so glad I found all these elements in this book.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I just recently finished this buddy read with Candyce from @thebookdutchesses — thank you for reading it with me — and I loved every minute of it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The author has a special way with words that kept me engaged throughout, so much so that when that reveal happened, I was so surprised!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This has such a rich world, a really complex but interesting magic system and I loved reading about Kellen, Ferius and Reichis, who are now some of my favourite characters!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I gave this book 4.5 stars and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can find my full review on my blog, if you follow the link in my bio!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What book surprised you with its ending?

  • Hey Bookstagram!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm finally back after being AWOL for nearly 2 years! University and life got in the way, but one of my goals for 2023 is to be more present on Instagram, and I REALLY do miss it. Now, I know this photo isn't up to my usual standards, but while I play about with some themes, I'm trying to stay with something simple to do, because no one has time for a 1h photoshoot for once picture, right??
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So today I am back with a mini-review of Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney, an incredible adult thriller/mystery that I read recently and adored.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was a really twisty, dark and atmospheric read and I suspected each character at one time or another. I usually dislike family secrets in books, but I thought that this theme was done very well in this story as I just kept reading to find out more. I really liked Daisy and her Nana as characters and very much disliked all the others, but I couldn't ever have predicted that ending, it was so shocking, but also so good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was such an engaging, well-written and well-executed book that kept me gripped throughout. I loved the writing style and had such a great time reading it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Head over to my blog to read my full review, you can find the link in my bio! 📚💖

  • Hello lovelies! How are you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today's prompt for the #RFABMay21 photo challenge is "Unfinished series" and I picked the Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I read the first book last year, or the year before that, and I wasn't in love with it as much as I was expecting with all the hype surrounding this book, but I did want to continue the series which is why I had the boxset to binge them all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I just haven't gotten around to finishing the series yet, but I definitely want to watch the Shadow and Bone show on Netflix and I intend to read all the Grishaverse books before (I like reading before watching). We will have to see if the rest of the Grishaverse books live up to the hype!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
QOTD: What hyped series/book you are afraid to read?❤️📚
  • Hello lovelies! How are you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It has been a few days since I have posted but today's prompt for the #RFABMay21 photo challenge is "Finished Series" and I interpreted it as a series I've finished, so I picked the Firebird series by Claudia Gray.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I read this series about 4 years ago when I was really struggling through some complicated family events and this one just stuck with me. It was my comfort when I needed to get lost in a book and I love this series so much for that. I have raved about Firebird ever since I finished the series (I think I read the 3 books in one week aha) and I just really need to pick them up again because they mean so much to me. They are also fantastic and definitely deserve more hype!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
QOTD: What is a series you've finished and loved? ❤️📚
  • Hello lovelies! How are you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today's prompt for the #RFABMay21 photo challenge is "Book & Sleeve" and I was actually really surprised, and happy that I had a book sleeve that is inspired by Dracula by Bram Stoker.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I got this gorgeous book sleeve in a @fairyloot book subscription box last year I believe and it's one of the prettiest ones I have. It was also in the Vampire box, which has been my favourite so far because I love vampires.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I tried to read Dracula with @theartsyreader last year but I didn't get very far, even though I was enjoying it. I really need to try this again soon, and hopefully, it will be picked as one of the Classic Lit picks for the TWR Gang book club I'm in. I need to really give this a chance because I think I'll like it and I have a special book sleeve to keep it in while I read it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
QOTD: What is your favourite paranormal creature?❤️📚
  • Hello lovelies! How are you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Happy Hump Day! I can't believe it is already Wednesday, this week is rushing by.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today's prompt for the #RFABMay21 photo challenge is "Want to Read" and I have so many books on my TBR but one that really stood out is Piranesi by Susanna Clarke.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I got myself this stunning copy when it was announced as part of the longlist for the Women's Prize and it was one of only 4 that I wanted to read. I was really happily surprised when it was also chosen for the shortlist and I really hope I can get to it soon. It's the only fantasy on the list which is kind of sad, but I think it will be just my thing and I know I will love it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
QOTD: How many books do you have on your TBR?❤️📚
  • Hello lovelies! How are you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today's prompt for the #RFABMay21 photo challenge is "Old Favourite" and I just had to pick Favourite Winnie-The-Pooh Stories by A. A. Milne which is one of the many editions of Winnie-the-Pooh that I currently own.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I grew up reading and watching Winnie-the-Pooh and both the books and the screen adaptations mean so much to me. I am a little bit obsessed by Eeyore and have way too many Eeyore-inspired things and cuddly toys.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These stories still mean so much to me and I will have to make time to discover them again. They make me very nostalgic, and I might have a little happy cry, but I'm sure it will be a lovely reading experience again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
QOTD: What books did you grow up reading? ❤️📚
  • Hello lovelies! How are you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today is the day I am FINALLY going to be able to start working on my master's thesis and I am so ready after months of other university assignments that stopped me picking up my reading list!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today's prompt for the #RFABMay21 photo challenge is "New Book" and I had a lot to pick from, but I ended up going for The Bright & the Pale by Jessica Rubinkowksi which I got in my @fairyloot subscription box last month I believe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've had this book on my 2021 anticipated reads list since I found it on Goodreads and I am so glad that I finally have a copy. This sounds like a really dark book which is definitely my kind of thing and I'm just really looking forward to getting to it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
QOTD: What is your most recent bookish purchase? ❤️📚
