Hello Hello! How are you?
The world has been a scary place lately, so hopefully, my Fairyloot unboxing will brighten your mood and make you forget everything, for a little while at least. I love receiving my Fairyloot box every month, it’s one of the things I look forward to the most and I’m so sad that my March box isn’t going to get here until April, but I totally understand the whole situation. I’ll just have three boxes to open in April, oh well, you can’t complain at that aha!
After a couple of not-as-exciting-as-before boxes these past months, Fairyloot have really pulled out all the stops again this year, I’ve loved both January and February boxes and I am sooooooo looking forward to March’s box!
I adore getting the Fairy Scribe emails every month from Fairyloot, because they announce the next theme a bit earlier than on Instagram and that’s probably my favourite part of my month, apart from receiving and opening the actual box! I was so excited about the Rulebreakers theme and I thought that I knew what book would be included in the box, but lo and behold, I was totally wrong. I’ll tell you something though, this book seems a lot better than what I was expecting! In this box, I received The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller. Doesn’t that cover look gorgeous? Wait until you read the synopsis!
GOODREADS SYNOPSIS
Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:
1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.
No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.
But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?
The book is pitched as the story of a Slytherin girl out for revenge, and golly, if that doesn’t make you want to read this book, I don’t know what will! I have tonnes and tonnes of books to get to in March, but I’m determined to at least start this one because it seems right up my alley and it’s not too long either! The Fairyloot readalong is starting today and you can find the schedule for it here.
Let’s have a look at all the goodies I got in this month’s box!
Theme Card
Every single month, even though the photo of the theme goes up on Instagram, I am still in awe of the beauty of these spoiler cards! I can’t wait to get back to France and set up my “bookroom” with my bookcases, I feel like doing something cool with the cards, if you have any ideas, leave your idea in the comments!
Serpent & Dove Ceramic Mug
This was the first thing that I got out of the box and I was so happy about it. I received Serpent & Dove in one of last year’s boxes and although I wasn’t an immense fan, I did love Lou and Reid together, it’s actually the only reason that I want to read book two! The design is so beautiful and I love the little snake and dove inside the mug! The artwork was done by @merwildandco and the little sketch inside the mug was done by @taratjah!
Foiled Scarf
I have to admit that I’m not a fan of cats, so when I get an item with a cat on it, I’m a bit miffed. But this scarf is so beautiful, soft and the artwork is so nicely done that I’m not really bothered about the cats anymore! I think this would look awesome on a chair or hanging on a wall, it’s too pretty to wear in any case! This scarf was inspired by Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson, one of my favourite books of last year, and maybe my favourite Fairyloot book of 2019 (I didn’t realise but the cat is Silas, so now I love the scarf even more). And the design was done by @taratjah.
Bookish Lip Balm
This lip balm smells so divine, I’ve never smelled anything like it! It is Strawberry Prosecco scent and it definitely smells really special! I really don’t want to use it and finish it up, but I might have to, I put some on my hand earlier while I was taking photos and the smell lasted all day! This lip balm was made exclusively for the Fairyloot box by Little Heart Gifts and is inspired by The Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan. I haven’t read this book yet, but boy, if Malachiasz is supposed to smell like this, I better get to it soon!
Art Print
One of my favourite items in my Fairyloot boxes is the art print included in each and based on a book with the same theme as the monthly box. This month, the art print was inspired by We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faisal and was designed by @noverantale. It’s so, so gorgeous, and it reminds me that I have to read this book too, oops, thank you Fairyloot for keeping me on my toes!
Mordor Luggage Tag
It took me an age to figure out what this was inspired by, until I read the card and realised that I’m a bad reader and still HAVE NOT gotten to Lord of the Rings, please don’t hate me. I really like the luggage tag though, but I’m not going to use it, it would break my heart if it got lost or damaged, so it will just have to go on the bookshelves like all the other great Fairyloot items! This tag was designed by @bookmarkd.tattoos & @loveyoumorestudio.
Foiled Bookmarks and Sticker
I feel so ashamed to say that yet again, I have not read the books in The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff, but I promise I will! And when I do, I’ll use these gorgeous bookmarks, I love bookmarks with quotes and I love both quotes so much, so I can’t wait to read the books now. I also love the sticker, I haven’t had many pretty bookish stickers like this one, and it’s probably going to go inside my bullet journal for safekeeping, but I’m definitely not going to be sticking it anywhere! These items were designed by @noverantale.
Tarot Cards
This month, the tarot cards were inspired by the Strange The Dreamer series by Laini Taylor (yep, another one I haven’t read, I don’t know how I can claim to be a book blogger!). They were designed by @gabriella.bujdoso and are so pretty!
Postcards
Inside the little bag containing this month’s book, as always we had the character print with the author’s letter on the back (see last collage), the bookmark in the monthly theme and the Fairyscoop leaflet with some more information about the author and the book. However, this month we also had some beautiful postcards, inspired by the book!
The character art print was designed by @myvalenstyles and it is one of the prettiest I’ve ever received. This is a really nice touch in each box and gives you a chance to meet the characters and get an idea about them! Also, the artwork on the back of the dust jacket was done by @vagueenthusiast.art, it looks really spooky and atmospheric but it also makes me want to pick the book up straight away, and have you seen those gorgeous embossed roses, I’m in love! It’s also my first purple book I think, and I absolutely adore the colour of the naked book! I can’t wait to dive into this gorgeous world.
I’m really looking forward to reading this book and telling you my thoughts on it.
That’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed this unboxing and took your mind off the sorry state in the world today, see you soon,
Ellie xx
What a great box! I plan on reading that book next month. Sounds really good!
Yes! It was really good, I hope I can get it in this month, if not the next! We could maybe do a buddy read? 🥳
I would definitely be up for a buddyread! Just let me know when you want to start. I can squeeze it in this month if you can’t wait to give it a go!
OMG YES! No, absolutely, next month is fine! Might start it last couple days of March, I’ll DM you 🥰💕
Love the honesty!!
Thank you!
There are some essentials I need to get thru as well.
