Hello Hello! How are you today?

For this week’s post, I decided an easy, quick and fun one was in order, and I’m so happy to be bringing back the First Lines Fridays posts on my blog! I might not post a First Lines Fridays every week, but will try my best to feature this post on my blog at least once a month.

I’m really excited to be featuring this book this week, so keep on reading to find out what first lines I want to share with you today and which book they come from!

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page.
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet — you need to hook the reader first.
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Viv buried her great sword in the scalvert’s skull with a meaty crunch. Blackblood thrummed in her hands, and her muscular arms strained as she tore it back and out in a spray of gore. The Scalvert Queen gave a long, vibrating moan… and then thundered to the stone in a heap.

What book is this quote from?

Legends & Lattes (#1) by Travis Baldree

She’s done slaying monsters. She’s ready to serve coffee.

After decades of adventuring, Viv the orc barbarian is finally hanging up her sword for good. Now she sets her sights on a new dream – for she plans to open the first coffee shop in the city of Thune. Even though no one there knows what coffee actually is.

If Viv wants to put the past behind her, she can’t go it alone. Help might arrive from unexpected quarters – yet rivals old and new stand in the way of success. And Thune’s shady underbelly could make it all too easy for Viv to take up the blade once more.

But the true reward of the uncharted path is the travellers you meet along the way. Whether bound by ancient magic, delicious pastries or a freshly brewed cup, they may become something deeper than Viv could ever have imagined.

I started reading this book a few weeks ago with some other book buddies and so far I’m really enjoying it. I feel like the hype just exploded for this book from the minute it was published, and so far I can definitely say that it has the cosy and comforting vibes it promises. I’m hoping to have this finished in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on my blog as I’ll most likely write a review for it.

That’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed reading this post.

See you soon, stay safe,

Ellie xx
