Hello Hello! How are you?

I’m happy to say that the Middle Grade Marvels Book Club is going very well so far! We’ve been reading Tilly and the Book Wanderers by Anna James in our Twitter chat and on Goodreads for the past month and we have all been loving it!

If you haven’t yet heard about Middle Grade Marvels, you can check out Noly’s announcement post, Holly’s announcement post, or my own announcement post to find out more about the Middle Grade book club we are hosting every month for the foreseeable future. I’m so glad we decided to give it a go because it has already brought us so much joy in these hard times.

You may have already seen our announcement, polls and pinned Tweets on Twitter in the past week, but following nominations and a poll on Twitter, we have decided on The Trials of Morrigan Crow (#1 Nevermoor) by Jessica Townsend as the book we will be reading together in June. A few of the members of our Twitter Book of the Month discussion have already read this one but will be rereading it and discussing it with us, so it’s going to be such a fabulous experience for all of us.

We’ve also got some very exciting news for you for July, all those already in our monthly BOTM chat on Twitter have had this information, and you will too if you decide to join us in either the Twitter chat or the Goodreads discussions that I upload every month. You’ll know more about this soon, hopefully!

If you haven’t yet joined our book club and you love reading Middle Grade books, what are you waiting for?

You can sign-up on this form to tell us where you want to discuss the books if you will read the BOTM with us or just read something from your own TBR. All of those already in the Twitter chat no longer need to sign-up. If you are in the MGM – BOTM twitter chat, but do not want to follow the June BOTM discussion, you are free to leave, and of course if you would like to come back in following months, just fill out the form again!

We have also made a Nominations form where you can give us your nominations, and please remember to join us on Goodreads where we post our BOTM discussions for you to join in, and we have also posted the Recommendations list and Nominations board for you on there. If you are not on Goodreads, you can find our Recommendations list here.

So, in June we have decided to read The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend which is the first book in the Nevermoor series. We are all so excited to read this!

Here is a bit of information about this book if you are still unsure whether to join us and read it with us.

GOODREADS SYNOPSIS

The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor, #1)

A cursed girl escapes death and finds herself in a magical world – but is then tested beyond her wildest imagination

Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she’s blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks–and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her eleventh birthday.

But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.

It’s then that Morrigan discovers Jupiter has chosen her to contend for a place in the city’s most prestigious organization: the Wundrous Society. In order to join, she must compete in four difficult and dangerous trials against hundreds of other children, each boasting an extraordinary talent that sets them apart – an extraordinary talent that Morrigan insists she does not have. To stay in the safety of Nevermoor for good, Morrigan will need to find a way to pass the tests – or she’ll have to leave the city to confront her deadly fate.

Well, what do you think about that? Sounds cool right?

If you do want to join our book club but you have already read the Book of the Month for June, or you don’t want to read it for any reason, you may be interested in our Similar Books List that we have compiled for June. When the results come in each month for the following BOTM, we are going to compile a list of 3 to 10 books that are similar to the chosen book. On the list for June, you will find books that feature young witches and wizards, young people discovering they have magical abilities, a school or magical academy setting, a mission and more still, so definitely check it out if you are lacking inspiration!

I think that is about it for today, you can find all the links just below and please do join us on our Middle Grade journey, we would absolutely love to have you along for the ride.

That’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed this post, see you soon, stay safe,

Ellie xx
