Hello Hello! How are you?

Are you all ready for November? I definitely am not, it’s soon going to be 2021 and I am not ready for that (I also hate odd-numbered years so I’m already not a fan of what’s to come aha). I have been absolutely rushed off my feet lately, my half-term break is actually more of a cram-everything-you-can-into-a-day-break and I need it to be the weekend right now!

.

In October, the Middle Grade Marvels members have been reading Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee, a much shorter book than the last one, but also very different from anything we’ve read so far. It’s based on Asian myths, it has amazing creatures such as foxes, tigers, dragons, goblins etc, all tied up in a science-fiction adventure through space!

Unfortunately, I have not enjoyed this book as much as previous choices, I don’t know why because I wanted to love it, but there is just something about it that stopped me from really enjoying it. I should have my review up for it in the coming weeks!

If you don’t know what this book club is, head over to my announcement post here, Noly’s announcement post here, and Holly’s announcement post here. If you are interested in joining our book club on Twitter or Goodreads, you can find all the information you need for November in the pinned tweet at @GradeMarvels.

The November BOTM poll has been voted on, and the information Tweet has been published and pinned, so you may already know that in November we will be reading Shadows of Winterspell by Amy Wilson as the BOTM.

I have had this book on my TBR for quite a while but I never actually read the blurb, so when this was chosen by the random number generator as one of our four choices and I went to find out more about it on Goodreads, I was sold. I’m so glad it was chosen, I’m really excited for next month’s reading and I’m sure it’s the perfect book for November!

Shadows of Winterspell

Stella has been living behind the magic of the forest for most of her life. Lonely, she enrolls at the local school, and as she begins to make friends, she discovers that she is even more different than she thought.

But as autumn turns to magical winter, Stella realizes that uncovering her own family secret is the only way to release the forest from the grip of a dark and old magic.
