Hello Hello! How are you?

Happy Saturday! I’ve had a very, very long and busy week and I still have so much more to do before I’m on my Christmas break, but I thought that a tag would be fun today, and I do have a load to get to, so it’s the perfect opportunity!

The lovely Fiona from Fi’s Bibliofiles tagged me to do this tag, so thank you so much, Fiona! You’ve got to go check out her blog, it’s absolutely gorgeous and I adore her content! Fiona saw this post on Stephen’s blog, Stephen Writes, and we think it was originally created by Jenn from Jenniely!

The aim of this book tag is to answer the questions and see if you are on Santa’s Naughty or Nice list, so let’s kick things off!

Questions

1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it

Yes

I’m counting both eARCs and physical ARCs in this question. I’ve had quite a few eARCs approved that I just have not gotten to yet and I still haven’t finished and reviewed To Sleep In A Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini. Unfortunately, I have been so busy that I just haven’t had the time to pick it up yet, but I’ll get to it soon!

2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley

Yes

And I have such a bad ratio that I’m too embarrassed to say what it is aha, but just know, it’s very low! But I’m aiming to work on that in 2021, so next year if I do this post, it should be better!

3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did).

No

I don’t think I’ve ever done this, I have reviewed a few books on NetGalley and Goodreads in the past and not on my blog, but I said I wouldn’t anyway!

4. Folded down the page of a book

Yes

I used to do this a lot before I really got into reading all the time and using bookmarks, but I try to use anything I can find now if I don’t have a bookmark in close proximity (which is rare because they are strewn about my house).

5. Accidentally spilled on a book

No

I don’t think I have ever done this, to be honest. Sometimes I do have snacks and drinks while I read, but I’ve never spilt anything on my books.

6. DNF a book this year

Yes

This year, I have actually DNF’ed 3 books: Waverley by Walter Scott, Matters of Convenience by Roy L. Pickering and A Flood of Posies by Tiffany Meuret. I just was not getting on with these three at all, I might go back to Waverley though, I was struggling to get into it and it was for a class, so there was a lot of pressure but I just couldn’t bring myself to finish it then.

7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it

No

Sometimes I do buy books because they have pretty covers, but 100% of the time, it is always with the intention of reading them, even if I don’t know the blurb.

8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)

Yes

Hahaha, quite a few times lately actually. I don’t make a habit of this because I have “allocated” reading time once I finish my work for the day, but I have been reading in the day a few times this past week because I needed a break from university work!

9. Skim read a book

No

I don’t think I have ever done this, honestly, I don’t even skim read any other written thing, I just don’t know how aha.

10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal

No

I’m pretty sure I have never missed my Goodreads goal actually, there were a few years where I didn’t have a reading goal, but the years I did, I completed them. I’ve surpassed my goal of 100 books this year and I’m currently at 137, so I’m hoping to get to 140 before the year is out!

11. Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library

No

The only time I have ever borrowed a book from the library was when I was in Stirling, but I returned it not too long after. We don’t have very good libraries in France and I’m pretty sure my local one wouldn’t know what an English book was even if it bit them, so I’m not even going to try aha!

12. Broke a book buying ban

Yes

Technically, I’ve kind of been on a book buying ban for a few months. A while back, I decided that I would only buy from that point on, books for book clubs, readathons and buddy reads and try to tackle the unread books on my shelves before buying new books, but I think that it still counts as a broken buying ban, oops.

13. Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about

Yes

I’ve done this a few times this year, I try not to do it often and nearly always draft my review as soon as I finish a book and then cross-post on Goodreads, but sometimes I forget!

14. Wrote in a book you were reading

Yes

I’ve done this a few times, but not that many as I just don’t like doing it. I do have quite a few books with numerous post-it notes in though!

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

Yes

I’ve done this a couple of times as well this year, but once I realise I have forgotten (usually when I’m writing my review), I always fix it.

16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend

No

I don’t really borrow books from anyone, I haven’t done in years, and I’m pretty sure that the ones I have, I returned them as soon as I had finished them!

17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book

Yes

I don’t like lending my books to people, except my mum cause she is fairly careful, but if someone else asks I will either say that I don’t like lending books or make up some excuse because I’m that kind of person who can’t say no and feels guilty for doing it!

18. Broke the spine of someone else’s book

No

I’ve never done this and I don’t borrow books from people anymore anyway!

19. Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged

No

I don’t think this has ever happened. I usually leave the jacket on because I hate the feeling I get on my hands from holding the naked hardbacks while reading, but the few times I have taken it off, I’m pretty sure it was still okay afterwards!

20. Sat on a book accidentally

No

I don’t think I’ve ever done this either, but there’s still time for it to happen ahaha!

Final Score

10/20

Oh drat!! I guess that means I’m on the naughty list this year! I’ll do my best to get on the nice list next year then! 😉

I Tag…

Noly, Holly, Stephen, Jenny, Kimberly, Kerri, Kate, Cat, Kat, Danni, Sammie, Gina,  Candyce & Isabelle and Becky

That was such a fun post to write, I’m so glad I decided to do it! If I haven’t tagged you but you would like to do this tag, please feel free to do so and link back here so I can read your answers! If I did tag you but you don’t feel like doing it, no pressure whatsoever!

That’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed this post, see you soon, stay safe,

Ellie xx

  1. Omg, I’m definitely on the naughty list too lol!!! My Netgalley ratio is so low too, I bet worse than yours… I can’t even admit the number it’s too bad xD

    1. Hehehe, NetGalley does it on purpose I think, don’t worry though, we will tackle it this year and get a great ratio!!!! ❤️
